the first moment you wake up there will be thoughts already in your mind
like a conversation that you are joining midstream.
the first thing you'll want to do is get up. don't
lay with the thoughts and feelings for a moment. take a deep breath
let the anxiety or agitation or internal movements become calm
you are safe.
DO NOT DRINK COFFEE
are you insane?
of course it tastes good. of course it's fun to walk to the coffee shop in the morning. get a tea. is it a waste of money getting tea at a coffee shop? yeah, but what you're really paying for is the community in the mind. just pay for it
shower, stretch, and meditate.
and then maybe, just maybe, check your phone for anything urgent.
BUT THIS IS ABOUT YOU
go to work
and instead of listing everything out and checking Slack and then email and getting back to this person and
just a write a few things down that you want to accomplish today and start.
it's that simple.
and if you start panicking, remember: work is a game. keep playing! it should be fun, at least at times. focus on what you're doing. the outcome. the people you're doing it for. the money it lets you do stuff with. it's a game! don't take it so seriously.
try and make a good connection with someone at least once a day. an old friend, a new friend, put yourself in a social situation and breath deeply and be open. connect
if you have time, go to the gym.
come home and rest
lying on the couch, watching some TV, reading, whatever. it's not the what, it's your intention to rest. let your body recoup from the day
it's simple, when you want it to be.
